National Family Conference for Ectodermal Dysplasias July 19-21 in Orlando

Last month, we celebrated Ectodermal Dysplasias Awareness Month and we wanted to be sure to let you know about the upcoming 31st Annual Family Conference for Ectodermal Dysplasias taking place July 19-21 in Orlando, Florida. This event, organized by the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias (NFED), brings together families impacted by these disorders and offers them the opportunity to learn about the latest research and treatment, find support and forge friendships with others who share this same journey, and enjoy some fun family time.

At BFS, we are very familiar with ectodermal dysplasias and the impact they can have on ocular health. There are more than 150 different types of ectodermal dysplasias, which are genetic disorders that affect the hair, nails, sweat glands, and teeth. These disorders can affect other body parts as well, including the lens of the eye, resulting in dryness of the eye, sensitivity to light, cataracts, and vision problems.

The mission of the NFED is to empower and connect people touched by ectodermal dysplasias through education, support, and research. One of their most important events is the annual family conference. This year’s theme for the Orlando conference is Find the Magic in You. The NFED is certain that these four days in Orlando will be truly magical and will change your life. More than three decades of successful family conferences attest to this fact.

Detailed conference and registration information is available from the NFED’s website or you may contact them at (618) 566-2020 or info@nfed.org.

If you are able to attend this conference, please share your experience here with us. We’d love to hear about this magical week.
