Coming Soon: SJS Care Week at BFS!

We are so excited for our favorite week of the year: SJS Care Week! Beginning on August 5, Boston Foundation for Sight will welcome our Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) patients and their families for a week of medical treatment and social support.

People who have survived the trauma of SJS are often left with lasting health difficulties from this devastating autoimmune reaction. Frequent complications include corneal surface damage, dry eye, photophobia, chronic pain, and scarring of the skin. An important element in healing from SJS includes the opportunity to interact with others who have been through these same experiences. In particular, it’s important for pediatric survivors to connect with peers who share these challenges and to feel a part of a community that accepts and understands them.

Generous contributions from our BFS community help to fund this important week in the lives of our patients. If you’d like to help, you can make a donation online to ensure that no one misses out on this opportunity.

We look forward to sharing photos and stories from SJS Care Week with you.
